Breath of the Wild is a game that mixes open world survival with a story very well. The goal of the game is to defeat Calamity Ganon and restore peace to Hyrule. Princess Zelda has previously saved Link by bringing him to the Shrine of Resurrection after being badly damaged in a previous battle, but by doing so, Link fell asleep for 100 years and lost all of his memories.
The story starts as Link awakes in the Shrine of Resurrection and finds a mysterious object called the Sheikah Slate and it helps him gain back his memories and escape the Shrine.
Sadly, over the last 100 years, evil has taken over without the Hero of Time to stop it and Zelda wasn’t powerful enough to protect her kingdom from the surprise that hit her.
The bad guy of the game, Ganondorf, found the Triforce’s hiding spot and claimed it, turning himself into a boar-like demon named Ganon.
He wrecked chaos on the world and spread monsters across the land, so it’s up to you in order to stop Ganon and bring Hyrule back to peace. Since the game is mostly a story, I won’t spoil any more.
Don’t watch the video below if you don’t want any spoilers!
As you play, you will get better armor, weapons, animals, and other gear, much like any other survival game.
The voice of Zelda guides you as you venture into the world and defeat bosses so it’s good knowing you have an expert helping you along the way. (As many could undoubtably use one!)
Breath of the Wild is only purchasable on the Nintendo Switch and costs 60.00$ If you buy it, hopefully you will enjoy it! Finding objects with special powers or just defeating monsters to get loot can feel really rewarding!
